This is a fan site dedicated to the late Peter Allen -- The Boy From Oz.
Peter Allen was a consummate singer, songwriter and stage performer who lived his life with great verve and good humour. He survived a difficult childhood in Tenterfield, Australia to become an entertainer much loved all over the world. He wrote of a number of hits in the 70's and 80's, many used on film soundtracks. He died at just 48 years old of AIDS-related cancer.
Peter Allen's music always told his life's story and those songs became the basis for the 2004 Broadway hit musical The Boy From Oz. He had written, produced and starred in his own musical, Legs Diamond, fifteen years before but it didn't enjoy the same success.
Though somewhat hard to find, much of Peter Allen's work is available on CD. There's also a fascinating documentary (US link) about his life made by the producers of The Boy From Oz.
This site is designed to be an introduction to Peter Allen's life and work. There's a four page biography covering Peter's life and the site also includes a discography, videography and list of soundtracks using Peter's work. There are selected album details and lyrics to some of his best loved songs, plus a page about the musicals along with cast recording details.
